1. What country is your Hero from?
Lukas hails from Vendel, and spent much of his young life at his family’s estate in Kirk
2. How would you describe your Hero’s physical appearance?
Although Lukas can afford now to wear the fashionable clothes and powdered wigs in favour at the League (and borrowed from Montagne, of course), and is generally well kempt, he is otherwise rather unremarkable. He keeps his chestnut hair short and tidy, is clean shaven, and, while fit enough, isn’t particularly physically impressive.
3. Does your Hero have recurring mannerisms?
Lukas wears a smile like a mask; clearly visible but often obviously fake.
4. What is your Hero’s main motivation?
Lukas wants to gain political sway within the League, and his recent appointment is his chance to prove his worth to them as an information broker.
5. What are your Hero’s greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses?
While he has a good awareness of political events and the bigger picture (which aids his long-term goals greatly), Lukas can sometimes miss some of the smaller details, some of which can turn out to be rather important.
6. What are your Hero’s most and least favourite things?
Lukas appreciates comfort when he can get it, but his favourite thing in the world is the feeling he gets when his work pays off. He hates it when something he’s overlooked costs him money, time, or success.
7. What about your Hero’s psychology?
Lukas is fairly even tempered, but easily bored. He suffers fools poorly, but can be sociable and chatty when the situation warrants it. He drinks little, believing it to lead to weakness.
8. What is your Hero’s single greatest fear?
9. What is your Hero’s highest ambition? Greatest love?
Lukas wants to work his way to being a permanent member of the League. He has had little interest in romantic love so far in his life, but its rise as a fashion item and tool of intrigue has made him wonder about it as of late.
10. What is your Hero’s opinion of his country?
Vendel is Lukas’ home, and is leading Theah into the future. While the backward methods and traditions of Vesten irritate his modern ideologies somewhat, he harbours no hatred for his less sophisticated cousins.
11. Does your Hero have any prejudices?
Lukas isn’t particularly fond of the Merchant Princes and their lackeys. He views their methods as old-fashioned and occasionally barbaric, and as their rivalry with the League is something he takes personally.
12. Where do your Hero’s loyalties lie?
To Vendel, to the League, and to his family.
13. Is your Hero in love? Is he married or betrothed?
Lukas has never met a woman that has truly captured his heart. His family have concentrated on backing his appointment at the League rather than arranging a marriage, but he doesn’t have anything particularly strongly against the notion of love (if it isn’t going to be an inconvenience).
14. What about your Hero’s family?
Lukas has a younger brother, Nikolaj, who he sees occasionally; Nikolaj currently attends the university of Kirk, reading theology and law, and while the brothers are on good terms, they have little to do with each other aside from the odd social visit and family event. His parents run a moderately successful short-range shipping company that operates out of Kirk, and have invested considerable effort into securing Lukas his League seat. They are on decent terms, and supportive of his ambitions.
15. How would your Hero be described by his parents?
His parents might describe Lukas as ambitious, in a complimentary manner. Aside from that, though, they don’t have much to say about him.
16. Does your Hero attempt to follow the code of chivalry?
Lukas is mildly intrigued by chivalry, in that it is the fashion in Theah at large, though it hasn’t influenced his life much. He does appreciate honesty and honour, but his daily dealings leave him with no illusions as to what it takes to succeed in a cut-throat world.
17. How religious is your Hero? What sect of the Church does he follow?
Lukas, while respectful of the church, is an atheist. He believes that religion causes more problems than it solves, but appreciates that most church-going folks are decent enough people. He respects charity, despite his cynicism.
18. Is your Hero a member of a guild, gentleman’s club or secret society?
His training at the Swanson school makes Lukas a member of the Swordsman’s Guild, but has little interest in its internal politics other than to make sure he stays in their good graces. He has recently been appointed to the Vendel League, with his information brokering business starting to take off, and his ambition is to become more successful in future within the League.
19. What does your Hero think of sorcery?
Lukas is sceptical and distrustful of sorcerors, but respects that people more important and powerful than him endorse it and utilise it. He does not share the church’s view that it is evil, and sees the value in sorcerors every day in the weather-workers his parents employ to drive their industry, but he believes that such power is easily prone to abuse.
20. If you could, what advice would you give your Hero?
Be cautious of overambition, and learn to pay attention to the smaller details.
